KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah looks at the issue of corruption seriously, saying that tackling it is important in building a transparent and high integrity nation.
The King also said the Government is currently implementing policies and initiatives of the National Anti-Corruption Plan through enforcement, prevention and education to combat all forms of corruption.
To ensure greater transparency, efficiency and professionalism, the Government has been improving its service delivery system through Digital Government initiatives via end-to-end service delivery, said Sultan Abdullah in the Royal address delivered during the First Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 14th Parliament on Monday (Feb 28).
He also expressed his appreciation for the loyalty and invaluable contribution of all the nation's frontliners, members of the civil service, the Malaysian Armed Forces, the police and government agencies who have rendered their services to make Malaysia a peaceful and prosperous nation.
"Their contributions are huge and beyond the call of duty. May all public servants remain committed, dedicated and always focused on constantly improving the quality of services for the wellbeing of the people," said the King.
At the same time, the wellbeing of public servants whether currently serving or retired, including retired Armed Forces veterans, must continue to be taken care of in terms of health, education, housing and welfare assistance, said the King.
The Parliament sitting on Monday (Feb 28) was reserved for the Royal address by the King.
The Dewan Rakyat meeting will run for 16 days until March 24 while the Dewan Negara meeting, which will be opened simultaneously with the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Feb 28), will last for nine days beginning March 21.
