JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in the state dropped from 4,496 individuals from 1,242 families at 8am to 4,274 individuals from 1,188 families at 4pm Friday (Jan 7).
Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said the number of victims in four affected districts is also showing a declining trend as the current sunny weather continues.
"Segamat still leads with a majority of 2,291 evacuees, followed by Muar (1,115), Tangkak (814) and Batu Pahat (54).
"There are 57 temporary relief centres (PPS) in operation, with 35 PPS in Segamat, 12 PPS in Tangkak, nine PPS in Muar and one PPS in Batu Pahat," he said in a statement here.
He added that the PPS with the highest number of victims is SK Tambang in Segamat, with 423 people from 125 families.
Vidyananthan also informed that there were also four locations that are recording dangerous river level readings, namely Buloh Kasap in Segamat, Kampung Olak Sepam and Panchor in Muar, and Sungai Kampung Labong in Mersing.
"There are only three roads in Segamat that are still closed, compared to eight roads in the morning.
"The closed roads are Jalan Puting, Jalan Pogoh, and Jalan Balai Polis Buluh Kasap.
"Jalan Felda Bukit Aping in Kota Tinggi, Jalan Muar-Labis (Jambatan Sungai Tui) and Jalan Durian Chondong are also still closed," he said, adding that there were also three roads in Tangkak that have been closed namely Jalan Durian Chondong (Bukit Kepong), Jalan Parit Cina and Jalan Penchu.
