KUALA LUMPUR: While there may be new opportunities arising from the new normal, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) require the right knowledge and solutions to optimise their chances for success.

Those interested to find out can attend the latest Star Outstanding Business Awards (SOBA) 2021 #SOS: Save Our SMEs webinar, by registering at bit.ly/eqrsobalab4.

Titled “Is Your Business Under Threat?”, the live webinar is set to be hosted by TV host and entrepreneur Naz Rahman in Bahasa Malaysia tomorrow at 3pm.

Among the business leaders and ecosystem players who will be speaking at the webinar are PKT Logistics Group Sdn Bhd chief marketing officer Kuan Eu Jin, Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Bhd (CGC) bumiputera development and products senior vice-president Mohamed Azman Mohamed Taufik, Maxis Southern SME sales head Hirman Mohamad Soh, RHB Bank Bhd group retail distribution SME regional sales head Noor Hidayat Noordin and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) transformation and digital trade division senior director Amran Yem.

During the webinar, Kuan will be exploring the necessary steps towards setting long-term goals for businesses, including diversification.

Noting that the key to tackling obstacles in business is embracing the entrepreneurial mindset, CGC’s Mohamed Azman will give tips on how to make the mind resilient and turn barriers into opportunities during this challenging time.

“(The key highlights include) how simple behaviour changes can lead to great things, how businesses must align to market trends and customer preferences, and why providing value to customers is key to sustainable growth,” he said.

For Maxis, Hirman will be elaborating on how SMEs can digitalise their businesses with affordability and flexibility using the right business solutions, as well as how to leverage the SME Digitalisation Grant to thrive in the new norm.

“There has never been a more critical time for businesses to leverage on technology to thrive in the new norm, and it starts with a shift in the mindset and challenging the status quo.

“As (businesses) seek to better understand how they can reap the benefits of digitalisation to achieve specific goals and address current challenges, become more competitive and ultimately reach their full potential, I’m excited to be sharing how entrepreneurs can embark on their transformation journey with affordability and flexibility with the right business solutions and strategy,” he said.

Noor Hidayat will be sharing his knowledge on how SMEs can best leverage opportunities in tandem with managing risks, especially the vision and tools needed to do so.

On how Matrade can help SMEs tap into opportunities, Amran said, “Despite the current restrictions and challenges due to the pandemic, Matrade continues to assist companies to expand their exporting businesses.

“We are committed to helping SMEs grow their business internationally through our vast array of services and facilitation including webinars, business matching, training, trade shows and much more.”

Robopreneur Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Dr Hanafiah Yussof, Haliza Industries Sdn Bhd CEO Datuk Nor Haliza Hussain and Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia vice-president Amirhamzah Karim will also share their experiences during the webinar.
