PETALING JAYA: The new Cabinet will be united in its goal to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

       Dr Wee - who was re-appointed as the Transport Minister - offered his congratulations to his fellow Cabinet colleagues on their respective appointments.

       “I am confident that we can work as one to rectify the Covid-19 pandemic on our shores as the main priority, alongside the multifaceted efforts to protect the people’s incomes and get the economy back on track again, safely and sustainably,” said Dr Wee

       “For this, we need to heed the Prime Minister’s words to strive for unity under the spirit of Keluarga Malaysia in order to do our utmost for the rakyat,” he added in a Facebook post on Friday (Aug 27).

       Dr Wee said that the new Cabinet will need to make bipartisan efforts to bridge political divides to achieve the strategies outlined under the National Recovery Plan.

       He expressed this thanks to Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob for appointing him, pledging to uphold the responsibility entrusted to him.

       He also expressed thankfulness for the wisdom of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah which led to the formation of a new government which could then swiftly get to work in handling the pandemic.

       “There is plenty of work left on my plate in the Transport Ministry and I am very eager to get back to resolving it,” said Dr Wee.

       “Besides addressing a multitude of developmental plans and programmes involving land transport, aviation and maritime affairs, the most important thing for Transport Ministry is to ensure that the movement of goods and people continues unhindered on the road to economic recovery,” he added.
