A CATTLE farmer in Kapar, Selangor, was shocked to find a six-month-old calf hacked to death, Malaysia Nanban reported.
The calf was found with slash wounds on Friday, which fell on the auspicious celebration of Ponggal.
It died several hours after it was discovered that morning by Karuppiah Adaikkan, 61, who had been taking care of the animals on behalf of its owner.
A 40-year-old man was arrested after a police report was lodged by the owner, Vasu Appasamy, 64.
The suspect had apparently committed a similar attack on cattle belonging to the same farmer two years ago.
Back then, five of the cows died after being severely wounded.
The farmer also complained that unknown persons were trying to steal his cows by cutting a fence around the perimeter of the farm.
