JOHOR BARU: A total of 104 compound notices were issued to food and beverage outlet operators and individuals for violating the dining-in standard operating procedures (SOP) and smoking within the premises, among others.

Johor Health Department director Datuk Dr Aman Rabu said a mass operation was conducted on Oct 25 where 428 premises throughout the state were checked simultaneously.

“We issued 60 compound notices worth RM253,500 to food operators who allowed the dining-in of customers who were not fully vaccinated and for failing to ensure social distancing between customers in the premises.

“Individuals who did not check-in at the premises with their MySejahtera app were also issued compound notices,” he said in a statement.

Besides that, the department also issued 44 notices to individuals for disobeying the smoking ban under the Control of Tobacco Products Regulations 2004.

Dr Aman said 26 notices were handed out to those found smoking in eateries, which was a prohibited area, and five notices were issued to food operators for allowing such practices.

“We also issued three notices to restaurant owners for failing to put up no-smoking signs at their premises while another 10 notices were handed out for miscellaneous offences under the regulation.

“The Health Department urges the public to be cautious about the existing pandemic SOP and adhere to the new norm practices.

“The public should also continue complying with the smoking ban especially at eateries and other prohibited places and my department will continue conducting checks to ensure compliance,” he added.
