The Duke and Duchess of Sussex plunged the Royal Family into crisis this year by making a number of bombshell claims about why they wanted to leave the Firm. During their controversial TV interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, they alleged that one unnamed member of the family had asked how dark their son Archie's skin might be before he was born. Harry also spoke about his relationship with William as he talked about him and Charles being "trapped" within the Firm.
However, royal expert Kinsey Schofield has warned Harry and Meghan's "PR tornado" may have blown their chances at a reunion with the royals - particularly William.
She said: "I am still not convinced that there is a looming reconciliation.
"I don't suspect that it is a priority for Prince William to patch things up with Prince Harry as they are at severely different stages in their lives.
"It appears that Prince William is busy trying to support his family through death and scandal while Prince Harry is concentrating on projects that are financially beneficial.
"Prince William is prioritising legacy while Prince Harry is focused on survival. I believe both brothers need time.
"Deaths, births, remembrance ceremonies, we look at all of these as a fresh start or an opportunity for renewed relationships but the reality is, all of these significant moments are happening within a Sussex PR tornado that is wreaking havoc on the Royal Family."
Oprah later clarified that Harry had said it was not the Queen or her 99-year-old husband Prince Philip who made the comments about the colour of Archie's skin.
Harry said during the interview: "That conversation, I'm never going to share. But at the time, it was awkward. I was a bit shocked."
He also said he had "huge compassion" for Charles and William as they "don't get to leave".
He said: “I was trapped, but I didn’t know I was trapped. But the moment that I met Meg, and our worlds collided in the most amazing of ways and then [I began] to see how trapped within the system, like, the rest of my family are.
"My father and my brother, they are trapped. They don’t get to leave, and I have huge compassion for that.”
William was the first royal to publicly speak out after the Oprah interview to say the royals were "not a racist family", while Buckingham Palace also added "recollections may vary".

9.26am update: 'On its last legs!’ Meghan Markle tells of old shabby car before landing dream job
Speaking at the Create & Cultivate conference in 2016, the then 35-year-old Suits star opened up about being a struggling actress in Los Angeles before she made it to fame. Meghan, who married Prince Harry two years later, wasn’t born into wealth and worked very hard to stretch out every penny.
Before she made her big breakthrough as Rachel Zane on the USA Network, Meghan took several jobs in the industry just to make ends meet - including working as a briefcase girl on Deal or No Deal and as a calligrapher.
In a wide ranging interview, the Duchess of Sussex, laid bare a humorous story about her “beat-up, hand-me-down — but awesome” old car - a Ford Explorer Sport.
She told Create & Cultivate founder Jaclyn Johnson: “You don’t understand how much I love this car.
“In the morning it would start and it would sound like a steamboat engine. This thing was on its last leg.
“My licence plate in the front was hanging on with a bungee cord.
“And then this just epic day happened where the locks stopped opening with the key - the clicker wouldn’t open the front doors.
“I couldn't afford to fix this car, and this was how I got from one audition to another, so this was my girl, my ride or die car.
“What I would do is go to these auditions, park at the back of the parking lot and then I could open my trunk - for whatever reason the trunk would still open with the key - open the trunk, play it off, look around and be like ‘I’m just looking for a headshot or a highlighter’, crawl into the back of my car, pull the trunk [closed] and then climb to the front seat to drive off to my next audition."
8.45am update: Prince Harry feared he’d look ‘weird’ juggling in Meghan Markle 40x40 video, pal says
The Duke of Sussex made a brief appearance in the Duchess’ promotional video for her 40x40 initiative. However, he was initially unsure about the impromptu cameo which sees him juggling three balls in the garden as her wife takes part in a video call.
Actress Melissa McCarthy, who is seen in the clip discussing the campaign with Meghan, explained Harry’s thoughts ahead of the filming.
"Then in comes Harry and he's like, ‘I can juggle’... Then he's like, 'Is it going to be weird if I stand outside and juggle?'
"I was like, ‘Weird in a way that will make me watch it five million times!’”
8.15am update: Eugenie may spark 'devastation' for Queen in 'new royal war' as she breaks ranks on Harry
Harry is known for sharing a close bond with his cousin, with Eugenie reportedly being one of the first members of the Royal Family to learn about his relationship with Meghan Markle back in 2016.
However, royal expert Daniela Elser warned Eugenie's support for the couple could be a "game-changer" as no royals have yet to publicly align with "the breakaway state of Sussex".
She wrote in news.com.au: "Princess Eugenie’s Instagram post points to a new royal war with Harry.
"While the notion that Eugenie, who is popular with the Queen, might so obviously break ranks with The Firm does at first glance seem a tad preposterous, but you have to keep in mind the backstory here.
"For years now, Eugenie has been the member of the Royal Family who has been closest to Meghan.
"While the various royal houses all shared sterile, official posts last week on social media to mark the duchess’ 40th birthday, it was Eugenie alone who very affectionately threw her weight behind 'dear Meghan’s”' 40x40 mentorship campaign via Instagram.
"If Eugenie did decide to help Harry with this memoir, it would be a total and utter game-changer for the Sussexes; for the palace, her apostasy would be nothing short of devastating.
"That calculus would be thrown out the window if even just Eugenie, let alone Beatrice too, switched sides and threw her weight behind the now California-based couple and their litany of royal grievances.
"Eugenie, in this scenario, would be the first one of the Queen‘s inner circle to defect and in doing so would add serious credence to the Sussexes’ claims.
"She would be the first HRH – heck even the first of the dozens and dozens of Windsors who annually litter the Buckingham Palace balcony – to align herself with the breakaway state of Sussex."
