       Divers have recovered the body of a Schaumburg man who fell into Fox Lake while canoeing with a friend early Friday, the Lake County sheriff’s office said.

       Authorities have not released the identity of the 30-year-old man, whose body was found at around 8 a.m. Friday.

       Police said the man and a friend had decided to go canoeing around 1:30 a.m., but their boat flipped throwing them into the water.

       The Schaumburg man was a poor swimmer and disappeared beneath the water, Lt. Christopher Covelli said. The second man, a 45-year-old Florida resident, was able to swim to shore, reports said.

       Neither man was wearing a life vest, authorities said.

       Residents in the area made numerous 911 calls at around 1:40 a.m. to alert police of a person in distress and possibly in the water, screaming for help.

       Police and rescue workers responded to the 100 block of Holly Avenue, and the sheriff’s office and Fox Lake Fire Protection District launched rescue boats.

       The investigation into the man’s death is continuing.
