AMPANG: A motorist, believed to be intoxicated, rammed his car into a furniture shop here.

       Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said the incident occurred at 6.14pm on Sunday (Nov 21).

       "We received a distress call about the incident and dispatched a fire engine, emergency medical rescue services vehicle as well as seven firemen to the scene.

       "They arrived around 6.30pm and found a car had rammed into the furniture shop along Jalan Kampung Pasir here," he said.

       He said one of the shop workers, a man in his 20s, was unconscious and was rushed to the Ampang Hospital for further treatment.

       "The 36-year-old driver of the vehicle escaped with minor injuries.

       "We believed the driver was intoxicated and handed him over to the police for further action," Norazam said.
