People demanding a cease-fire in the Israel-Gaza war protested outside Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s Arlington home on Friday morning.
Arlington police responded to reports to protesters in the road shortly before 7 a.m., and cleared the scene at 8:38 a.m., said police spokeswoman Ashley Savage. There were no arrests, she said.

There were about 15 people at the protest, according to an organizer with the local chapter of the Palestinian Youth Movement, one of the groups behind the demonstration. This group has held protests outside the State Department since the onset of war in October, but decided to take their demands to Blinken’s home on Friday morning. A State Department spokesperson declined to comment.

Protesters carried a banner that said “End all U.S. aid to Israel,” draped Palestinian flags over their shoulders, wore kaffiyeh scarves, a symbol of the Palestinian cause, and shouted into megaphones: “Blinken, Blinken, you’re a liar. We demand a cease-fire.”

“Blinken shouldn’t have the ability to go home and rest and relax while children are being bombed and killed in their own homes in Gaza. So we want to disturb his peace in the same way that he is not letting even like the youngest children of Gaza have any peace,” said Miranda Dube, a 26-year-old Palestinian organizer. “We want to make sure that he hears our voice all the time, whether he’s at home or at work.”
During a Thursday news conference with U.K. Foreign Minister David Cameron, Blinken said there is a “gap” between Israel’s stated intent of protecting civilians and what’s happening in Gaza, an apparent crack in the administrations’ humanitarian agreement from last week
When Blinken testified before a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing on Oct. 31, a group of protesters repeatedly interrupted him and held up their hands, which were painted in red, to call for a cease-fire. Capitol police arrested 12 people protesting inside of the Dirksen Senate Office Building, a spokeswoman for the agency said at the time.
