TOKYO -- A strong earthquake jolted the central Japan Prefecture of Ishikawa on the evening of Sept. 16, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
The 6:42 p.m. quake had an estimated magnitude of 5.2, and struck at a depth of about 10 kilometers, the agency said. It measured a lower-5 on the seven-point Japanese seismic intensity scale in the Noto district of Ishikawa Prefecture. The quake did not pose a tsunami threat.
