PETALING JAYA: G3 Global Bhd has appointed Datuk Seri Alias Ahmad as independent non-executive director and chairman with effect from Jan 4, 2022.
Alias succeeds Datuk Wan Khalik Wan Muhammad as director and executive chairman, who resigned yesterday.
Aged 63, Alias had served as the secretary-general of the Education Ministry (MoE) before retiring on May 22, 2018.
Alias holds a Bachelor’s Degree in the study of Arts and Social Sciences and a Masters in Strategic and Defence Studies from University Malaya.
He had served 34 years in the Malaysian civil service, and the notable positions held include director-general of the Immigration Department (2010-2014) and secretary-general of the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (2014-2016).
He was also secretary of the National Security Council or NSC (2016), and secretary-general of the MoE (2016-2018).
