Figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu is depicted in rice paddy art in the northeastern Japan city of Kakuda, Miyagi Prefecture, in this photo taken from a Mainichi Shimbun helicopter on Sept. 23, 2021. The artwork, created by local volunteers with nine varieties of rice plants in an approximately 5,000-square-meter field, portrays Hanyu's "Seimei" free skating segment at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, in which he won gold. He appeared in rice paddy art in 2019, but was featured again upon request ahead of the Beijing Winter Games next February. The best viewing period for the art will continue until around the end of September.
