KOTA KINABALU: A school headmaster claimed trial at the Special Corruption Court here to 25 charges of corruption and abuse of power involving RM36,466.15.
Hussin Amid, 53, a headmaster at a primary school in Kota Kinabalu, pleaded not guilty before judge Abu Bakar Manat yesterday.
He was accused of abusing his power in the appointment of two companies registered under the names of his wife and his brother to supply the school with teaching aids and foodstuff.
Thirteen of the charges involved providing contracts worth RM24,140 to his wife’s company while the remaining charges related to contracts worth RM12,326.15 given to his brother’s company. The offences took place between Nov 2017 and Oct 2019.
Hussin, who is currently working at another primary school, was allowed bail of RM10, 000 but only RM6,000 has to be deposited in court with a local surety, pending disposal of the case. The court fixed May 24 for mention.
