A man was killed after his boat crashed into a tree along the Fox River in Holiday Hills Wednesday afternoon, according to officials.
The man, Raymond Jezierski, 58, of Fox River Grove, was found ashore in the boat with smoke coming from the engine about half a mile south of the McHenry Dam, according to the McHenry County coroner’s office and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. A witness called 911 to report the crash.
Jezierski was found trapped between the boat and a tree, and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to authorities. No other boats were involved, according to the coroner’s office.
The McHenry County coroner said Jezierski died from blunt trauma to the chest, and a toxicology report is pending.
The IDNR’s Conservation Police task force is investigating.
