KLUANG: Umno has no issue if Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia is carrying out seat negotiations with its Perikatan Nasional partners, says Johor Umno treasurer Datuk Md Jais Sarday.
"Umno is not part of Perikatan. We are with Barisan Nasional. So we have no issues if they discuss seat negotiations among themselves," he said on Friday (Oct 1).
He added that Johor Umno would adhere to the party's decision of not working with Bersatu in the 15th General Election (GE15).
He added that to date, there had been no seat allocation discussions in Johor with Perikatan Nasional.
Asked about any possible compromises that could be made before GE15, Jais, who is also Kluang Umno division chief, said this was unlikely as Umno's stand was clear based on the feedback from the grassroots.
However, he said discussions could take place between Umno and PAS.
"However, if PAS sticks with Perikatan then we will have to contest against them in GE15," he added.
On Thursday (Sept 30), Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that Perikatan would move forward in the discussion on seat allocations for GE15 without Umno.
He said seat negotiations including parliamentary and state seats will be made among those in Perikatan.
Perikatan comprises Bersatu, PAS, Sabah STAR, Gerakan and SAPP.
