A Lake Forest man who abused a child over an eight-year period has been sentenced to 39 years in prison, according to Lake County prosecutors.

       Wojciech Dzierzanowski, 49, had been found guilty at trial in April of predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, prosecutors said.

       Authorities said Dzierzanowski physically and sexually abused a child over an eight-year period that ended when the child was 15. The victim disclosed the abuse to a therapist who alerted authorities, prosecutors said.

       Dzierzanowski was charged in 2018.

       Judge Victoria Rossetti, who presided over Dzierzanowski’s April trial, handed down the sentence during a Monday hearing, prosecutors said.
