A VIDEO on a suspected child abuse incident involving a foreign woman that went viral will see the suspect being charged in court soon, Kosmo! Online reported.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said the incident took place in December last year.
He said police arrested the 53-year-old suspect on Dec 8, one day after a police report was lodged.
The incident is said to have occurred at a house in Taman Persiaran Minden, Gelugor, on Dec 2.
According to the report, four children under the care of the suspect were believed to have been abused by the minder.
“The case is being investigated under Section 31(2) of the Child Act and Section 6(3) of the Immigration Act because the suspect did not have valid travel documents.
“We are awaiting consent to press charges from the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office,” ACP Soffian said.
