Although temperatures made the mid-40s or so this afternoon, winds gusting from the west and northwest around 35 mph kept it feeling 5 to 10 degrees colder. Clouds that built in the morning sun dissipated again in the afternoon and into evening. They didn’t really do much to augment our weather, but walking in the sun was probably a more pleasant venture. Winds aren’t expected to be as much of an issue tomorrow. First, a cold one tonight.

Through tonight: Skies are mainly clear this evening. It should stay that way through the night. It’s also a cold one, with temperatures a bit below average for the date. Lows will range across the 20s in most spots to around 30 degrees in the District.

Tomorrow (Tuesday): We can expect much more sun than clouds throughout the day. High temperatures should be mainly in the mid-40s, which could rise to the upper 40s in the city or in southern Maryland. Winds will probably turn to come out of the south around 10 mph.

More rain: It rained another couple tenths of an inch after midnight. But the Nov. 20 to Dec. 10 rainfall total was 4.51 inches for Washington — more than double the average of just north of 2 inches for the same period. Including the full storm, or through Dec. 11, the same stretch is among the 10 wettest for that period dating back to the 1870s. That’s good news for more drought relief locally and across the Mid-Atlantic.
