GEORGE TOWN: Civil servants under both city councils in Penang who continue to refuse Covid-19 vaccination without exemption will face disciplinary action come Nov 1, says state local government committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo.
He said on Friday (Oct 22) the state government has obtained a list of the civil servants who are still unvaccinated out of some 7,002 under both city councils.
He said under the Penang Island City Council (MBPP), 29 were unvaccinated while 19 from the Seberang Prai City Council (MBSP) had yet to be inoculated.
"For the 29 under MBPP, nine were given exemption as they have existing health issues while under MBSP, five were exempted for the same reason.
"But for the others who remain unvaccinated, we will carry out engagement sessions with them and try to get them to register for vaccination.
"As far as we know, some remain unvaccinated as they are not registering until it is made compulsory; others are not confident about coming forth for the jabs," he said.
