BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Seberang Perai City Council issued 20 compounds to owners of business premises for hiring foreigners to run the outlets without approval during an enforcement operation around Bukit Mertajam on Sunday (Feb 25).

       In a statement on Monday (Feb 26), the city council said the stern action was taken due to their failure to adhere to its licensing conditions, which prohibit foreigners from running the premises.

       During the operation, the city council also imposed compounds on other premises for various offences, namely operating without a licence (10 premises), putting up an advertising board without a licence (six premises) and failing to properly maintain a grease trap (one premises).

       The Seberang Perai City Council reminded traders across Seberang Perai to always comply with the rules and regulations set by the authorities. – Bernama
