PETALING JAYA: Star Media Group staff member Bannet Ankiah (pic) has passed away at the age of 58.
In late July, the clerical assistant was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) but succumbed to Covid-19 on Sunday after more than a month.
Bannet joined the Star Media Group as a general worker in 1991.
He moved on to the production department and then to advertising in 2000 as an ad tech, where he worked with analogue (negatives) adaptation and digital handling of advertisement materials until his passing.
He is survived by his mother Sarah Tanimalai, wife Agnes Vathumalai, and three children – Jazeel, Neysha and Naomi, aged 10, 14 and 20 respectively.
Client brand marketing assistant manager Myra Vong described him as a gentle person, saying “Bannet was quiet and steady, always ready with a helping hand,” she added.
Bannet’s colleague, Annie Sarah Ahbail, remembers him as a humble co-worker.
“He hardly raised his voice at anyone. He was a very hardworking and quiet person,” she said.
His burial took place at Batu 14, Puchong Christian Cemetery, yesterday.
