KLUANG: Police have arrested seven youths in connection with a video clip of an individual being beaten up in an oil palm plantation.

       Kluang deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani said the incident took place at Pekan Layang-Layang near here.

       “The 14-second video was widely circulated among the local community on Facebook," he said in a statement Tuesday (Feb 8).

       DSP Abdul Razak said the Kluang district police criminal investigation unit received a report at 9.22pm on Thursday (Feb 3) from the victim’s brother.

       He said following the report, police detained seven individuals aged 16 to 18 years to assist with the investigation.

       “We also seized several mobile phones from them.

       "They have been remanded for four days until Friday (Feb 11) and the case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with weapons," he said.
