We basked in classic fall weather today, the day after we closed the books on summer. With highs in the mid- and upper 70s, despite full sunshine, afternoon readings were more like we might expect to end September. This morning, it was a chilly 23 degrees in Canaan Valley, W.Va., a few hours to our west. Not that cold around here tonight, but a cool one, nonetheless. Brilliant again for Saturday.

Through tonight: It’s a lot like last night. If anything, a smidgen cooler outside the city at least. Lows range from about 50 to 57, with some areas possibly hitting the 40s.

Tomorrow (Saturday): This one looks like the pick of the weekend. Mostly sunny conditions prevail yet again, with highs near or above 80 most spots. Winds are still occasionally gusty from the north, but probably not as gusty as today.

Sunday: Clouds could be numerous, and rain chances are up as a cold front passes through. It’s not impossible we see rain off and on much of the day, but it’s still a little unclear. We’ll try to nail it down by tomorrow. Right now, highs look to be in the mid-70s or so.
