TWO top pupils of SJK (T) Jalan Lobak in Seremban received a new laptop and RM1,000 each for their achievements, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Saruni Kumaran emerged the school’s best pupil while Jasrin Thomas was selected as the best pupil in co-curricular activities.

The Parent-Teacher Association awarded both girls with the incentives to recognise their achievements and to motivate them and other pupils.

PTA chairman VS Gunasekaran said eight other pupils who also got good results received between RM100 and RM300 along with a medal.

The awards were given out during the graduation ceremony at the school with the pupils turning out in robes and mortarboards.

As they have completed six years of primary education and will be entering secondary school soon, the PTA wanted to ensure their efforts did not go unnoticed.

Headmistress Mageswari said the PTA and the school board had been very cooperative with the school management in taking care of the pupils and their welfare.

She thanked the PTA for organising the ceremony and urged the pupils to continue their excellence.

       > The daily also reported that an 11-year-old girl in Tamil Nadu, India, has been awarded a first-class bachelor’s degree in Hindi studies after completing nine tough exams.

       R. Doshini from Chennai completed the course in four-and-a-half years after joining at the age of seven.

She was awarded the Bachelor of Arts in Hindi Literature after completing the coursework and passing the exams.

The course is conducted by Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, which was founded by Mahatma Gandhi and women’s rights activist Annie Besant.
