IPOH: Parents are advised not to bring their younger children to Ramadan bazaars to protect them from being infected, says Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
He said that it is always better to be cautious - especially with children - even though the country is now transitioning into the endemic phase of Covid-19, adding that this is especially so with the new Omicron XE variant which is more transmissible.
“I noticed many people have forgotten, and I still see people hanging out at coffee shops and food outlets for long hours," said Saarani.
“Whatever it is, it must be done in a moderate manner, as we must not forget that Hari Raya is approaching soon,” he added at a press conference after a meet-the-people session at Stadium Indera Mulia on Tuesday (April 12).
Saarani was asked if Perak was planning to enforce the ruling just like Melaka on banning children from Ramadan and Hari Raya bazaars as a measure to prevent infection.
“Whatever it is, we will follow all the requirements and standard operating procedures set by the National Security Council. So for now, I will advise parents to be more careful, and if possible do not bring children along to such bazaars,” he said.
