ZOINKS! A ghostbusting mutt collared his first phantom — but just like Scooby-Doo was scared stiff.

Retired greyhound champ Bond sniffed out the apparition at one of Britain’s most haunted sites.

He led investigators through the dark to the abandoned cells of a former police station and courthouse. But, as infrared cameras picked up a spooky figure ahead, trembling Bond refused to go any further.

Ghosthunter Brian Sterling-Vete said: “It was just like a scene from Scooby-Doo. He was rooted to the spot.

“He’s normally very calm but on this occasion he obviously sensed something he didn’t like and was petrified.

“Not even a Scooby snack would get him through the door into the cell.”

Brian, 61, of Manchester-based Paranormal Rescue, had been joined on the pre-Halloween hunt by partner Helen Wuorio, 50.

He went on: “We reviewed the footage and it clearly detected a 6ft 3in stick figure standing next to Helen.

“We have seen some incredible things, but nothing quite as amazing as this.

“This entity touched Helen’s face — whilst Bond hid behind us.”

They later discovered a prisoner in the 1930s hanged himself close to the spot where Bond froze. Previous sightings at Bolton’s Castle Street police station include a lady in white holding a lantern.

NORTHERN cities would be best avoided in a zombie apocalypse — with Leeds top of the pile.

Experts worked out the numbers of walking dead based on the amount of cemeteries in an area, people buried there and overall population.

Leeds had 150 cemeteries and 811,000 potential zombies. There were 769,911 who might rise from the grave in Manchester, and 469,000 in Liverpool.

Safest was the Isles of Scilly with just 98 and Stevenage 241.

Despite being home to Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s 2004 zombie flick Shaun of the Dead, Haringey in North London came 311th out of 363 on the list.

The biggest concentration of zombies would be in Kensington and Chelsea in the capital — with 16,000 per square kilometre.

So even the district’s megarich installing bunkers below their mansions would not stop the end of the world.

A spokeswoman for Rant- Casino.com, which did the study, said: “A zombie apocalypse might be a fictional scenario but it is intriguing to know the cities likely to survive or fall.”
