KLUANG: A 12-year-old boy who was riding a motorcycle was killed after colliding with a car in Kampung Sri Lukut near here.

       Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Low Hang Seng said the incident occurred at KM99, Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing at about 7.40pm on Wednesday (Jan 26).

       He said the boy was trying to cross the main road to the intersection of Kampung Sri Lukut but ended up entering the opposite lane.

       “The car was coming from Mersing towards Kluang and the 27-year-old male driver could not avoid the motorcycle.

       “The boy suffered severe injuries from the impact of the incident and died at the scene,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Jan 27).

       ACP Low said the body was sent to Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom here for post-mortem.

       The driver escaped unhurt, he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
