BUTTERWORTH: A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident involving three vehicles at KM116.3 North-South Expressway on Monday (April 18).

       North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Radzi Ahmad said the motorcyclist died on the scene due to serious injuries to his head.

       "The accident is believed to have occurred when the victim who came from Sungai Petani heading towards Sungai Dua collided with the rear side of a car that was being driven in an emergency lane," he said in a statement on Monday (April 18).

       ACP Mohd Radzi said after the collision, the victim fell from his motorcycle on the right side of the road and was hit by a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle that could not avoid hitting the victim.

       He said the victim was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene.

       The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
