TAMPIN: A 27-year-old security guard has been arrested for impersonating an army colonel.

       Tampin OCPD Supt Anuwal Ab Wahab said the suspect was detained at a house in Kg Sungai Layang in Rembau, near here, on Tuesday.

       “Police also seized an army uniform, accessories, a fake pistol, bag with a police logo and a set of handcuffs from the suspect’s house.

       “He was then taken to the district police station for further questioning,” Anuwal said in a statement.

       Anuwal said the suspect would be investigated for impersonating a colonel in the Gerak Khas unit at a territorial army camp here on Dec 8, 2018.

       He said the suspect wanted to enter the camp to meet the deputy commanding officer and company sergeant major.

       Anuwal said the suspect failed to provide an authority card to prove he was a senior officer.

       If convicted, he faces up to two years jail, a fine or both.
