JOHOR BARU: A former administrative executive was pleasantly surprised when she won a luxury watch in the Star Media Group’s (SMG) Subscribe and Win contest.

       Initially, Teoh Swee Ying (pic), a long-time subscriber of The Star, was somewhat in disbelief when she was informed about her win.

       “I don’t remember entering any contest recently, so I thought it was impossible for me to get a prize.

       “It turned out that I was automatically eligible for the contest when I renewed my subscription to The Star in late September,” said Teoh, 69, who is from Kepong, Selangor.

       The mother-of-two said she was excited about getting the prize, a Maurice Lacroix ML Aikon Automatic 39mm timepiece worth RM9,500.

       “I will treasure it because it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me to own a luxury watch,” she said, adding that it was her first time winning a gift in a contest.

       Teoh, a subscriber of The Star for more than 30 years, walked away with the third prize in the contest held in conjunction with SMG’s 50th anniversary.

       There are two more premium timepieces awaiting participants of the SMG 50 Subscribe and Win contest which runs from Sept 16 until Nov 11.

       Contestants can win the prizes from Swiss Watch Gallery by subscribing to any one-year plan with The Star during the contest period.

       The grand prize of the contest is the Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronograph 44mm watch worth RM50,000 followed by the second prize, an Oris Artelier Calibre 112 valued at RM28,000.

       If you are already a subscriber to one of The Star’s plans, you can enter the contest by renewing your subscription during the contest period.

       There is also a special anniversary discount of RM50 for all of SMG’s print product such as The Star newspaper standalone plan, The Star All Access and The Star Bundle.
