       KUWAIT CITY, July 1: In a strategic move to bolster transparency and accountability, the Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, has announced the formation of a committee dedicated to investigating suspicions of money laundering within all entities, bodies, and sectors under the Ministry of Social Affairs’ supervision.

       Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Monday, Minister Al-Huwailah emphasized that this decision represents a crucial step towards enhancing oversight and ensuring the highest levels of integrity. The initiative also invites citizens to actively participate in reporting any suspected cases of money laundering within the ministry’s purview, thereby raising the levels of financial and economic security in the country and reinforcing Kuwait’s reputation as a leader in combating corruption and promoting transparency.

       The newly formed committee will serve as a vital tool in combating financial crimes and protecting the national economy from the adverse effects of money laundering. It is tasked with receiving reports, conducting investigations, and referring cases to the Public Prosecution as necessary. The committee will comprise members from various regulatory bodies specializing in anti-corruption, money laundering, and oversight of public funds.

       Minister Al-Huwailah highlighted that the formation of this committee marks a significant milestone in the ministry’s ongoing efforts to achieve its vision and goals. It aims to provide distinguished services and enhance the trust between citizens and government institutions, in line with the high directives of the political leadership on the importance of combating corruption in all its forms.

       The minister called on anyone with information about suspected corruption and money laundering within the ministry’s system to come forward. Reports can be submitted to the management of councils and committees in the Ministries Complex (Block 17), where they will be handled with complete confidentiality.
