SAGA -- Kyushu Railway Co. (JR Kyushu) will offer a limited number of memorial tickets to commemorate Saga Station's 130 years of service on the JR Nagasaki Line on Aug. 20.
JR Kyushu will sell 1,300 sets for 1,300 yen (about $12) each, including tax, at a temporary booth at the station starting 1 p.m. on Aug. 20. Each set includes two train tickets between Saga and Tosu stations, and an admission ticket for the Okuma Memorial Museum in the city of Saga to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Shigenobu Okuma, who was born in the city and contributed to building the first railway in Japan.
The company is currently planning a sale of railway-related goods no longer in service and an exhibit, but says the sale and exhibit may be canceled or have restricted entry depending on the coronavirus situation.
