KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's new daily Covid-19 cases dropped by over 25% to 622 cases Monday (March 14) from the day before, but the public has been urged to stay vigilant amid the continuing threat from community infections.
State Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said that although the cases dropped by 233 cases from 855, sporadic infections continued to remain a concern especially in public places.
"Please don’t throw caution to the wind. Observe all standard operating procedures set by the Health Ministry," he said in his daily briefing.
He said only Kota Kinabalu recorded figures in the triple digits with 192 cases, 64% of which were from sporadic infection.
Monday's numbers were largely influenced by a decline in new cases in districts such as Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Tuaran.
He said a total of 19 districts recorded a drop compared to Sunday (March 13), with four – Penampang, Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu and Tawau – registering significant declines.
He said one educational institution cluster (Jalan Gudon Cluster in Kota Kinabalu) was declared over Monday, leaving 25 active clusters in Sabah.
A total of 612 or 98.39% of Monday's new cases were in Category 1 and 2, two each in Category 3 and 4, and six in Category 5.
