KOTA KINABALU: The Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) has lodged a police report about a social media post that allegedly insulted and degraded the culture and customs of Sabah's native community.
KDCA women council chairperson Joanna Kitingan said the remarks posted by an individual in Facebook, was also offensive in nature towards the women of the Kadazan Dusun Murut Rungus (KDMR) community.
She added that the person had also insulted the dignity of the Bobolian, which is a traditional high priestess and ritual leader in the community.
“On behalf of the KDCA women's council and chairperson of the Unduk Ngadau beauty pageant, I lodged this report to ask the police to investigate the posting and individual(s) concerned,” she said on Wednesday (May 4).
She filed the police report at the Penampang police station near here.
She also urged the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to look into the case.
“The police report also serves as a reminder to any person or party not to make disparaging remarks against any race or their custom,” Kitingan said.
