KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's Covid-19 situation continues to decline with the state recording 58 new cases Monday (April 18), the lowest daily figure since May 14 last year.
State Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said 13 of the 27 districts in Sabah recorded no new infections while other districts saw marginal increases over the past 24 hours.
He said the districts with cases in the double digits recorded slight increases of just one or two cases.
"This is the third day in a row we are seeing the Covid-19 figures declining," he said in his daily briefing.
He said the situation continued to stabilise but cautioned that community spread was still a concern.
Since early in the year, Sabah recorded rising case numbers, which peaked to above 5,500 a day in February before seeing a steady decline.
Of the 58 new cases Monday, 62% were attributed to sporadic infections, Masidi said.
He urged people to continue to be vigilant and observe standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the Health Ministry.
A total of 54 of the new cases were in Categories 1 and 2, one in Category 3, two in Category 4, and one in Category 5.
