KLANG: The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in most of Selangor was lifted despite the high number of cases as mass Covid-19 screenings have been completed.

       Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this was the information given by the Health Ministry at the National Security Council (NSC) special meeting.

       "This was what we were informed. When the NSC makes decisions, it is done on the advice of the Health Ministry," he said after visiting a factory here on Saturday (July 17).

       The EMCO in 34 sub-districts in Selangor was lifted after a 14-day lockdown.

       The state has recorded a high number of cases recently, with 5,512 cases on Friday (July 16) alone.

       Ismail Sabri said while Selangor is now under Phase One of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), the EMCO would still be enforced on areas and localities with high numbers of cases.
