GEORGE TOWN: The Farlim market and food complex in Bandar Baru Ayer Itam reopened on Thursday (Sept 23) after a 14-day closure when 18 Covid-19 cases were detected among its traders and workers.

       “We will continue to monitor operations at the market and at the food complex," said the Penang Island City Council (MBPP).

       It added in a statement that spot-checks will be conducted to ensure its traders, workers as well as the public adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP).

       “We wish to remind the public that if they are of a ‘high-risk’ status on MySejahtera, we will not allow them to enter the market," said the MBPP.

       The market was ordered closed on Sept 9 when 18 Covid-19 cases were detected, affecting 159 stalls, and 22 stalls in the food complex.
