SAKAI, Osaka -- A woman died after possibly falling from an Osaka prefectural housing complex with a baby girl in this west Japan city on Aug. 26.
The woman, likely in her 30s, and the girl, estimated to be about 1 year old, were found collapsed at the 11-story housing complex in the Terajicho-nishi district of the city's Sakai Ward at around 5:05 p.m. on Aug. 26. The woman was taken to hospital, where she passed away. The baby was apparently crying when rescuers arrived at the scene.
A pair of adult sandals were found on the complex's 10th floor, leading Osaka Prefectural Police's Sakai Police Station to investigate the incident as a possible fall. Officers are also attempting to identify the woman and child.
According to the police station, the two were found near the housing complex's ground floor entrance portico. They may be mother and daughter. The sandals and a backpack were apparently left in the 10th floor corridor above the scene.
