Chicago police are looking for a man who they believe broke into the bedroom of a 7-year-old girl in the Rosemoor neighborhood and sexually assaulted her late last week.
At around 3 a.m. Thursday the man forcibly entered the home through the bedroom window and sexually assaulted the child, police said. When the girl’s father found him, the man ran into the East 102nd Street alley between South Prairie Avenue and South Forest Avenue, according to police.
Police on Tuesday said Area 2 detectives continue to investigate. The man they’re looking for is described as an approximately 6-foot-tall Black man with a heavy muscular build and medium-dark complexion and short black hair, according to a Chicago police community alert. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, bluejeans and black shoes.
Police are asking people to be aware of their surroundings, of unusual debris or litter on their property or moved or displaced outdoor furnishings. People should be sure to lock their doors and windows at night and tell children to report suspicious activity to an adult, police said.
