PETALING JAYA: The police in the district will focus on more Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) compliance checks following the easing of restrictions, which included the lifting of the interstate travel ban.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said district police have seven compliance teams deployed daily to ensure compliance of the SOP.

"We will focus on conducting inspections and checks around the district, including at highway R&R.

"We want to ensure that the people adhere to the SOP," he told reporters after inspecting the situation at the Sungai Buloh Overhead Bridge Restaurant on Tuesday (Oct 19) night.

The compliance teams will target areas of public interest in Petaling Jaya such as shopping malls and parks, he added.

"We will focus on enforcement and compliance checks as it is important for the people to comply with the SOP.

"This is not the time to let our guard down and disregard the SOP," he said.

On the situation at the Sungai Buloh Overhead Bridge Restaurant, ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin said no offences have been recorded as the people complied with the SOP.

"I feel that visitors to the R&R understood the requirements of the SOP and they have duly complied.

"Our checks revealed that the visitors are fully vaccinated while fully complying with the SOP such as wearing face masks and check-in with the MySejahtera app," he said.
