PETALING JAYA: A total of 45 individuals, including 34 customers of an entertainment outlet, were issued with RM1,500 compound notices each for breaching Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) following a raid at Sungai Way here.

Petaling Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the notices were issued for failure to maintain physical distancing and not wearing face masks during the raid at about 4am on Friday (Oct 15).

"We issued the compound notices to 34 customers (16 men and 18 women), six male waiters and five foreign women, believed to be working as guest relations officers (GRO).

"The patrons and workers were in four different karaoke rooms at the entertainment outlet," he said when contacted on Friday.

A local man, believed to be the outlet's manager, was also detained for hiring foreigners without permits, while the five foreign women working as GRO were detained for working without proper permits, he added.

"We also conducted urine tests on all the patrons and workers.

"Two local men and a foreign woman tested positive for drugs," he said.

Supt Ku Mashariman advised business owners and the public to abide by the SOP.

"Failure to comply with the SOP can increase the spread of Covid-19.

"Our ultimate goal is to break the chain of infections," he added.
