IPOH: Compound notices amounting to RM150,000 were issued by the Perak police against 22 Malaysians at an entertainment outlet for defying the Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP).
Perak Police Chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid (pic) said this follows after a raid was carried out at a nightclub at Bandar Baru Medan here at 1am on Sunday (Aug 29).
"Besides the compound notices issued against the 22 individuals, we also arrested another two Chinese female nationals.
"From 24 individuals, 13 of them tested positive for ketamine," he said today.
Comm Mior Faridalathrash said 19 of the arrested were males while the remaining five were females.
"The compound notices issued against the 22 Malaysians are under Regulation 17 of the Disease Prevention Measure and Control Act 2021.
"The case is also investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act and the two Chinese nationals are investigated under Section 6 (1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63," he said.
He said the raid carried out could not only curb the spread of Covid-19, but also reduce the possibility of drug abuse.
"We want to remind all entertainment club owners to follow the Covid-19 SOP.
"Under the National Recovery Plan (NRP) Phase 2, entertainment outlets are still not allowed to operate," he said.
