PETALING JAYA: It is the right time for the government to reintroduce facilities such as the i-Lestari and i-Sinar, and the automatic loan
moratorium with the National Recovery Plan, says Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz (pic).
The Finance Minister said Malaysia was among the first few nations to introduce such initiatives.
“Initially, we were heckled by those who opposed it.
“Much later, there were among them who came to realise the initiatives’ positive effects and began to support them.
“With the National Recovery Plan, this is the right time to reintroduce such initiatives to help the people and businesses,” he said on his social media account yesterday.
Tengku Zafrul’s statement came in the wake of the announcement by the Prime Minister that Phase One of Movement Control under the National Recovery Plan to curb the spread of Covid-19 would be extended beyond today.
Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin also said that he would be announcing a more comprehensive form of assistance for the various groups affected by the restrictions.
Various business groups and political parties have also called on the government to reintroduce such initiatives.
