PASIR GUDANG: A six-pillar plan is currently being drafted by the state government to bring Johor forward and improve the lives of its people, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi (pic).

       The Johor Mentri Besar said that the plan is expected to be finalised during a state leaders' retreat on May 26-28.

       According to him, the six pillars include good governance, the economy, social safety net, basic needs and facilities, security and cleanliness as well as the young people's agenda.

       "As the Mentri Besar, I have a mission and vision to see Johor grow into a developed state, not only in terms of the economy, but holistically as well.

       "This includes its infrastructure, mentality, knowledge and culture of its people. That is my vision to develop Johor into a modern state.

       "I will also ensure that Johor Barisan Nasional's manifesto in the state election will be realised," he said in his speech at the Pasir Gudang Umno Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house here in Puncak Kasih, Bukit Layang-layang on Tuesday (May 24).

       Also present was Umno vice president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who is also Pasir Gudang Umno division chief.

       He added that the state government would also focus on the needs and issues faced by the youth as about half of the state's population are young people.

       "Development needs to focus on areas around Johor Baru as about 1.8 million out of the 3.6 million people in the state live there," he said.

       He said that the state government is also committed to ensure that Barisan Nasional's momentum from the state election should be maintained in the 15th General Election.

       "To ensure that the aim to develop the state is achieved, the government on the state level should be on the same page with the Federal Government.

       "As such, Barisan must win in the general election, nothing is impossible," he said.
