PETALING JAYA: Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has handed over Mitra boxes 2021 for 800 households for Deepavali.
In a Facebook post on Sunday (Oct 31), Dr Wee said he handed over the 800 Mitra (Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit) boxes to MIC Ayer Hitam leaders.
"The boxes contain cooking oil, rice, sugar, biscuits and other daily necessities as well as mutton.
"The boxes will be distributed to 800 Indian households within the Ayer Hitam constituency for Deepavali on Nov 4," he said.
He added that Ayer Hitam Umno deputy chief Kamal Haron, Ayer Hitam MCA chairman Ling Tian Soon, Ayer Hitam MIC chief Sujenoren and Yong Peng councillor M. Guna were among those who were present at the event.
In a separate post, Dr Wee said that he visited several Indian families in Yong Peng as well as handed out aid to the underprivileged and the chronically ill in conjunction with the Deepavali season.
"I and my team, who are made up of various races, felt the togetherness (during the visits). Glad to see my Indian friends, who are part of the Malaysia Family, greet us merrily," he said.
