ALOR SETAR: All parties, especially content creators and social media influencers, must be careful with their content, particularly those that can lead to issues and controversies, says Kedah Raja Muda Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Sultan Sallehuddin.
He said false news could lead to tension and disharmony among the community.
“Sometimes, when the news is untrue or when defamatory materials are published, it can lead to a controversy, and this will be detrimental to the people’s well-being and create tension.
“I hope all parties, especially content creators and social media influencers, will be careful before publishing any content on their platforms.
“Do not create content without basing it on facts.
“Materials or statements that are defamatory can cause division in society which will then be detrimental to all parties,” he said during the investiture ceremony at Istana Anak Bukit here yesterday.
Kedahans celebrated the 80th birthday of His Royal Highness Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah yesterday.
Gazetted as a public holiday, it marks the official birthday of the 29th Sultan of Kedah whose actual birthday falls on April 30.
Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah was bestowed with the Darjah Kerabat Kedah while his wife Che Puan Muda Zaheeda Mohamad Ariff was conferred the Darjah Kerabat Sallehuddin.
Datuk Seri DiRaja Tunku Shazuddin Ariff Sultan Sallehuddin, who is the current Tunku Laksamana Kedah, was conferred Tunku Mahkota Kedah.
Following them was Datuk Paduka Mohd Omar Mohammad, who was conferred the title Darjah Paduka Seri Setia which carries the Datuk Paduka title.
International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali led the list of 62 dignitaries and recipients who were conferred titles and awards in conjunction with the Sultan of Kedah’s birthday.
He was conferred the Darjah Seri Setia Diraja Kedah Yang Amat Dihormati (SSDK), which carries the title Datuk Seri.
Datuk Seraja Wangsa Datuk Wira Syed Azizan Syed Mohamad Al-Idrus and Datuk Wira Wan Ahmad Uzir Wan Sulaiman were bestowed with the Darjah Gemilang Seri Mahkota Kedah (DGMK) which carries the title Datuk Wira.
Kedah agriculture and food industry committee chairman Datuk Azman Nasrudin and Datuk Wan Romani Wan Salin were awarded the Darjah Dato’ Setia Sultan Sallehuddin Kedah (DSSS) award which carries the title Datuk.
Another 21 recipients were bestowed with the Darjah Dato’ Setia Diraja Kedah (DSDK) title which carries the title Datuk.
Five recipients were bestowed with the Darjah Dato’ Setia Pahlawan (DDSP) award which also carries the title Datuk.
A total of 27 recipients were awarded with the Setia Sultan Sallehuddin Kedah, Setia Diraja Kedah and Jaksa Pendamai.

Dr Sarabjit co-owns the INS Specialist Centre in Alor Setar and has been instrumental in starting a new 200-bed private hospital project in the city.
The soon to be known as Aurelius Hospital Alor Setar is set to serve the needs of the population of Alor Setar and its surroundings.
A member of the main committee of The Royal Kedah Club Alor Setar, he is married to Simran Kaur and has three children, two of whom are doctors while one is a dental surgeon.
He also has a granddaughter.
Dr Sarabjit’s father, Dr Perdamen Singh, was a prominent former head of the radiotherapy and oncology unit in Hospital Kuala Lumpur and KPJ Ipoh Specialist Centre.
Bernama reported that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob also congratulated the state Ruler on occasion of his 80th official birthday celebration.
“I pray for Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tuanku and Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tuanku Sultanah Maliha Binti Almarhum Tengku Ariff to be blessed with long life,” Ismail Sabri said on his official Facebook page.
