KUANTAN: Perikatan Nasional intends to contest all 14 parliamentary and 42 state seats in Pahang in the 15th General Election, says Pahang Perikatan chairman Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.
He said discussions on seat allocation between the Perikatan parties, namely Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, PAS and Gerakan, were still at the early stage.
“The three parties agree that there should be an initial discussion on the allocation formula for GE15.
“For the time being, the seats to be contested by the parties have to be referred to the respective party committees before it is finalised,” Bernama reported him as saying after attending the Indera Mahkota Bersatu division annual conference here yesterday.
Saifuddin, who is also Pahang Bersatu chief and Foreign Minister, said the priority of Bersatu Pahang at the moment was to heed the call of its president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to set up many branches and increase membership.
He also confirmed the strong relations between Pahang Bersatu and PAS following the close ties the party had with Pahang Umno, which led to the setting up of Muafakat Nasional in the Cameron Highlands by-election.
