PETALING JAYA: All public and private vaccine dispensing centres (PPVs) in the Klang Valley will continue operating, even during the upcoming Hari Raya Aidiladha on Tuesday (July 20), says Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba. He said the effort to vaccinate as many people as possible would result in a meaningful and one-of-its-kind “korban” (sacrifice) by those involved at all PPVs on the day. “This is in support of our target to vaccinate at least one dose of the vaccine to all residents in the Klang Valley by Aug 1. “All public and private PPVs will not close on Hari Raya Haji on July 20,” he told The Star on Saturday (July 17). Dr Adham added that all PPVs would remain open during weekends. “The operating hours for public PPVs (those involving health clinics and public hospitals) have been extended to 7pm, while the private PPVs will open until 9pm daily,” he said. ProtectHealth Corporation chief executive officer Dr Anas Alam Faizli also said there will be no weekends or public holidays for all private medical practitioners and health-related non-governmental organisations that are involved in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP). “The best korban that we can offer now is to continue vaccinating during Raya Haji,” he said. Dr Anas Alam said that ProtectHealth has instructed all private medical practitioners and health-related NGOs participating in the NIP that there will be no public holidays and weekends unless there are any changes. Earlier on his Twitter, he wrote that the PPVs would go on every day. “This year’s sacrifice is that we won’t close the PPVs on Aidiladha, and would make sure the vaccination doesn’t stop. “Seven days a week, we go on. This is a concerted effort from all parties. Vaccination saves lives!” he added. ProtectHealth Corporation is a wholly-owned non-profit subsidiary of the Health Ministry that implements private medical practitioners’ participation in the NIP. It has been given the mandate to register, provide training, monitor quality, conduct analysis and reporting as well as make payments to all private medical practitioners involved in the NIP.
