IPOH: The Covid-19 outbreak in Taiping can be controlled, assures the Mentri Besar.
Datuk Saarani Mohamad said the sudden spike in cases on Tuesday was due to a factory cluster.
“The cluster can be handled as it is in a controlled area, ” Saarani said yesterday.
“The hostel is now under the enhanced movement control order.”
As of Tuesday, 189 positive cases were reported in Taiping.
Some 181 cases were from the Jalan Ika cluster, with a cumulative total of 1, 803 cases.
The enhanced MCO at the hostel, which started on July 3, will end tomorrow.
Saarani also said the state was aiming to move into the third phase of the National Recovery Plan soon.
“We are working hard to increase the number of people getting vaccinated to 40% to move into the third phase.
“We need to reduce the number of daily cases, with an average of 156 cases daily, ” he added.
